Remember, Remember to Write in November!

The Monthly Round-Up

November is often used in the writing community as a month to focus on writing as many words as possible. Are you going to capitalise on a motivated community to help you polish your submission to the Romantasy Retellings Novella Competition, or another project? Or is it a bit too tricky with Christmas approaching and – for our US based writing buddies – Thanksgiving thrown in there, too? Remember we are holding weekly writing sprints on Wednesdays (today’s it at 9.30pm GMT) if you’d like some company and accountability.

Here is what the Coven managed to do throughout October and what their plans are for the penultimate month of the year!

Jessica has finished book two in the House of Voluptas series and it’s now ready to be edited, which is part of her November plans. The cover for her Why Choose demon romance is almost ready! Final changes have been discussed and are being put in place. Jessica also took part in the Indie Visible Halloween event and recorded the first three episodes of the SFFRomCast.

In November, as well as edits, Jessica is aiming to get back into book three of her Grotesque brothers series. Kasper is in need of his story! And, as well as the edits mentioned above and the publishing process beginning for her demon Why Choose, Christmas planning is on the agenda!

Emma J spent October podcasting, administering the Romantasy Retellings Novella Competition, completing an editorial report, installing new furniture into the kids’ rooms and enjoying Halloween fun during half term. But, she did also manage to get an outline and first three chapters drafted for a Harlequin Blitz, working from an old contemporary romance idea that has been sitting in a drawer for a few years.

November will be continuing to work on the competition, wrapping up Season 14 of the podcast, hopefully reading a certain spicy novella (House of Voluptas 2!), dealing with a new routine at home, alongside the beginning of Christmas prep and dance show hoopla. She is hoping to pick a project and add some regular words to it, though. But what to focus on? Always the big question!

Emma-Louise spent October mostly refilling her creative well, finding inspiration, and thinking about plans for the rest of the year.

November will be about starting Emma’s new work in progress and editing her two books so they are pretty much good to go for beta reading in 2027.

How did you get on in October? Do you have any big writing plans for November?
